There will be a Christmas parade in Crawfordsville, Indiana on Sunday, December 2nd, 2012, at 2:30PM
Floats decorated with the beloved Peanuts gang will roll through downtown for the Annual Christmas Parade on Sunday.
The theme for the parade this year is A Charlie Brown Christmas and will kick off at 2:30 p.m. This year’s emcees will be Dave Peach, general manager of local radio stations WIMC, WCVQ and WCVL, and Lora Clore of Clore Insurance.
There are 46 entrants in the float competition, which will take place at 1:30 p.m. before the parade. Floats will be judged by Diana Gould of Gould Body & Paint and Patty Kirby of Kirby Trucking.
“This is about the same number of floats we’ve had in years past,” said Stacie Brooke, interim executive vice president of the Crawfordsville/Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce.
Businesses such as Nucor Steel, RR Donnelley and The Home Depot, among others, will have floats in the parade. Local Girl Scout troops and a Cub Scout pack and Boy Scout troop will all have floats in the parade, as well.
The Congregational Christian Church of Darlington and the Center Pointe Dance Studio will both have floats accompanied by performances.
Although many of the groups and companies involved are annual participants, Brooke said she has no idea what the floats will look like in advance, only that they’ll have something to do with Charlie Brown.
“I’m pretty much surprised just like everyone else when the floats come through for judging,” Brooke said.
Performing in the parade ahead of the floats will be the Brian Bowman VFW Post 1431, Dance by Deborah and the Dance by Deborah Competitive Performance Troupe and Crawfordsville Pride, among others.
To top it all off, Santa and Mrs. Claus will make an appearance on a float of their own at the end of the parade. Here’s hoping Charlie Brown gets a moment alone with the big guy.
